Storage - Hệ thống lưu trữ - Thiết bị lưu trữ - là một thiết bị máy chủ nhiều ổ cứng hoặc một thiết bị lưu trữ chuyên dụng có nhiều ổ cứng gắn trực tiếp vào máy chủ hoặc sự kết hợp giữa các máy chủ với nhau tạo thành một hệ thống phục vụ cho công việc lưu trữ, backup dữ liệu chia sẻ dữ liệu của công ty tổ chức. Có nhiều hình thức lưu trữ khác nhau phù hợp với nhu cầu của mỗi doanh nghiệp, hiện nay, phổ biến nhất là các hình thức lưu trữ sau:
DAS (Direct Attached Storage): Là lưu trữ sử dụng các ổ cứng gắn trực tiếp bên trong server, client và dữ liệu được truy xuất trực tiếp đến các ổ cứng này.
NAS (Network Atteched Storage): Đây là hình thức lưu trữ không gắn trực tiếp như DAS mà thông qua mạng LAN. Dữ liệu được truy xuất từ một thiết bị lưu trữ khác thông qua network.
SAN (Storage Area Network): Là mạng lưu trữ là một mạng chuyên dụng, hoàn toàn tách biệt với các mạng LAN và WAN. Đặc điểm của SAN là cho tốc độ truy xuất dữ liệu cao và khả năng mở rộng linh hoạt.
